North American Savings Bank (NASB) Provides Bartlett Center with $150,000 Donation
The Bartlett Center and NASB are pleased to announce their renewed community partnership in 2022 with a $150,000 donation to the children’s care center. The Bartlett Center is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization and United Way partner contracted by the state of Missouri to provide social programs for youth in the St. Joseph midtown neighborhood.
NASB’s donation will cover the entire annual operating and program costs for the youth after-school and summer programs, which provide care, food, and educational programming for Pre-K through age 12. The donation will also allow the center to purchase updated computers and Chrome books for the computer lab and staff.
“My staff and I are extremely appreciative of NASB,” said LaTonya Williams, executive director of Bartlett Center. “Our budget is very small, so this donation—the largest we have ever received—will enable us to finally be able to not only provide materially for the youth in our community but to also get much-needed staff training and educational tools as well as hire more staff. We couldn’t be more blessed!"; said Williams, who grew up in St. Joseph and attended the Bartlett Center as a child.

The Bartlett Center provides childcare, summer, and after-school programs that utilize Missouri Western State University students, retired teachers, and community volunteers as tutors. The center’s programs place an emphasis on STEM activities and building academic confidence.
“One of NASB’s core giving pillars is around education and children, and we have witnessed the positive impact the Bartlett Center has had on children in St. Joseph’s midtown neighborhood. As a member of our community here since 1972, we are proud to support the Bartlett Center, the families it serves, and the positive impact they make on the broader St. Joseph community,” said NASB CEO Paul Thomas.”
In addition to the Bartlett Center, NASB is a community partner of Mid-City Excellence and Second Harvest. NASB has a retail banking branch in St. Joseph. On Friday, February 18, CEO Paul Thomas, Chief Human Resources Officer Burke Walker, and other members of the NASB team will make a visit to the Bartlett Center, Mid-City Excellence, and Second Harvest to learn about new initiatives, programs, and how NASB can serve the St. Joseph community.
